The Fraud Victim Rights Organization endorses H.R. 9480, the Empowering Law Enforcement to Combat Financial Fraud Act.

This bill will promote use of existing Federal grant funding to support local, State, and tribal police in investigating financial fraud.

Local, State, and tribal police play a critical role in the fight against fraud as they are frequently the first point of contact for victims. As such, evidence gathered during initial investigations is essential in dismantling those large-scale organized fraud rings that are responsible for most consumer fraud. In addition, timely law enforcement response is also critical to successful efforts at recovering victims’ money.
